Southern Corridor Improvements (SCI) project
CPB Contractors is working with the NZ Transport Agency (the Transport Agency) to design and construct the Southern Corridor Improvements (SCI) project on State Highway 1 (SH1) in Auckland, New Zealand.
The SCI project targets a critical link in New Zealand’s transport network to serve a growing population and support economic growth.
Improving safety, traffic flow and access to the motorway, the SCI project will provide additional lanes on the Southern Motorway between Auckland’s growth areas of Manukau and Papakura, and upgrade the Takanini Interchange.
Key features of the project include:
- Constructing approximately 11km of additional lanes;
- The upgrade of 16 existing bridges; and
- The construction of 6 new bridges.
Scheduled to complete in 2020, the project is being constructed and opened in stages to release early benefits for freight carriers, commuters and local communities.
