Paid training for women – construct your career!

CPB Contractors is encouraging women to try a career in construction with a paid three-week training course and an offer of employment for successful applicants.

The program is an innovative and proactive step towards an equitable construction industry where women fully participate.

Applicants will be introduced to the industry over a paid three-week course with CPB Contractors, a member of the CIMIC Group, with successful participants then receiving a permanent role on a major construction project and a pathway to accreditation.

While no previous construction experience is required, the Women In Construction pre-employment program is best suited to those who love a collaborative team environment, have a practical can-do attitude and are motivated to learn.

CPB Contractors’ Chief Operations Officer Don Johnson said, “Our people are the most experienced and capable in the construction industry, and this paid program is a way for us to lead change and create real career pathways for women in construction.

“A career in construction with CPB offers our people with long-term development and opportunities in a growing sector, with plenty of variety working across iconic major infrastructure projects”.

About the program

The four-step program is centred around classroom study, on-the-job learning and establishing a long-term career.

  1. Fundamentals: Participants take part in a paid 3-week pre-employment training program that will introduce them to working on a construction project and explain the fundamentals of the industry.
  2. Employment: Successful participants will receive a permanent offer of employment for an apprenticeship role on a CPB Contractors’ project.
  3. Work and learn: Participants will complete a paid apprenticeship and obtain a Certificate III Civil Construction – Plant Operations.
  4. Construction career: Participants are supported and encouraged to continue their construction career working across CPB Contractors’ projects.
