Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 project has rolled out a pre-employment program in collaboration with Indigenous business, Mobready. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants attended on-site training and classroom learning, professional development and mentoring with six graduating at the end of the three week program
Joshua Toomey, CPB Contractors Senior Indigenous & Social Inclusion Advisor and Rebecca Britt, Training Manager developed the program to create more accessible pathways for First Nations people to start a career in construction.
“Providing career opportunities in construction for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a priority on every CPB Contractors project and this program is another great example of that commitment,” adds Joshua.
CPB Contractors is delivering Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 together with fellow CIMIC Group company UGL, in a joint venture with Ghella. The project includes the delivery of an underground motorway connection between President Ave, Kogarah and the M8, mainline tunnels, exit/entry ramps, shared cycle and pedestrian pathways.
