This included delivering eight new railway stations, more than 4000 commuter car parking spaces, Sydney’s new metro trains and upgrading the railway between Chatswood and Epping.
Under the OTS PPP, CPB Contractors was part of the infrastructure joint venture with John Holland, and UGL was part of the Systems joint venture, with MTR Corporation, designing and delivering the tunnel systems, new metro trains, rail signalling and overall control systems.
Also through the PPP, Sydney Metro Northwest will be operated and maintained for an initial concession period of 15 years by Metro Trains Sydney (MTS), a joint venture of UGL, MTR and John Holland.
Sydney Metro city extension
CIMIC Group is delivering two major contracts as part of the Sydney Metro City and Southwest project which is extending metro rail under Sydney Harbour, through new underground central business district (CBD) stations and beyond to the south west.
CPB Contractors and UGL’s combined capabilities are delivering an end-to-end result, covering design, construction and commissioning of the project.
Tunnels and station excavation works
In June 2017, CPB Contractors, with joint venture partners John Holland and Ghella, was awarded a $2.81 billion contract to deliver twin 15.5km tunnels and associated civil works for Stage 2 of Sydney Metro, including a new crossing deep under Sydney Harbour.
Line-wide works package
In November 2018, CPB Contractors and UGL were awarded a $1.376 billion contract to deliver the Line-wide works package including tunnel rail systems, new and upgraded metro trains facilities, as well as tunnel ventilation, mechanical and electrical systems for underground stations and power systems.
