A 'city within a city' in the heart of Melbourne
CPB Contractors constructed its Victorian head office at 567 Collins Street from 2013 to 2015, delivering the largest, premium-grade commercial tower constructed in Melbourne since 1990 – a 26-level building with a nett lettable floor area of almost 55,000 square metres.
Located between Spencer and King Streets, the prime site is located in the heart of Melbourne’s legal, commercial, insurance, banking and finance precincts within 100 metres of Southern Cross Station and is central to the city’s three main activities districts – the CBD, Docklands and Southbank.
The ground level draws the street in to provide a vibrant ‘town square’ atmosphere, with connection to the street, forecourt and foyer – a city within a city.
With over 70m of Collins Street frontage, the 16m high building entry transitions to a 6m high foyer, creating an active and diverse offering of retail areas and north-facing open space.
From ground level, there is a dramatic, three-level high foyer area opening on to Collins Street, with extensive café and retail tenancies. Above that, are two levels of health club, seven levels of podium campus offices, 15 levels of upper tower offices, and a special client floor on level 26 with extensive views to Port Phillip Bay.
A lower ground floor accommodates approximately 160 car spaces, change rooms, locker amenities and a loading bay. Atriums are located on levels five through to eight and on level 10, while service plant rooms are located on the lower ground, level 3, and tower rooftop.
Designed by the Spowers-Cox Architects Joint Venture to meet a 5-Star Green Star as-built rating and 5-Star NABERS energy rating, the building offers an efficient, effective and flexible environment to suit contemporary workplace needs.
