The NSW M6 Stage 1 Delivery Partner team recently welcomed more than 400 employees and their families to the Bicentennial Park temporary site for a Friends and Family Day. Aunty Yvonne opened the day with a Welcome to Country, and guests enjoyed a showcase of the project, fun activities, delicious food, live music, and a petting zoo.
Children in attendance were delighted to don safety vests and hard hats before getting up close to the project’s many pieces of plant equipment. Guests participated in engineering and environmental activities, including assembling cardboard roadheaders, rock painting and building a ‘Leaning Tower of Pasta’ out of spaghetti and marshmallows.
CPB Contractors' M6 Stage 1 Project Director Glen Ashton said the event was thoughtfully planned to enable purposeful procurement resulting in the engagement of many Indigenous and social enterprise businesses to bring the event to life.
“It was a great day, and I was very proud to showcase the values of safety, one team and innovation that drive our project each day,” added Glen.
CPB Contractors is currently delivering the M6 Stage 1 in a joint venture with UGL and Ghella. The project includes the delivery of an underground motorway connection between President Ave, Kogarah and the M8, mainline tunnels, exit/entry ramps, shared cycle and pedestrian pathways and tunnel stubs for a future Stage 2 of the M6 (subject to obtaining relevant planning approvals).
