CPB Contractors connects with Clontarf Academy Students at Super Training Day

CPB Contractors recently participated in the Clontarf Academy's Super Training Day held in South Australia. The event brought together Year 12 students from Clontarf Academies across the state, mentors, foundation partners and local project team members from CPB Contractors.

The event, held at Barratt Reserve in West Beach, kicks off the annual camp bringing together young men from Christies Beach, Murray Bridge, Port Pirie, Port Lincoln and several other locations.

Through various sporting activities and an engaging breakfast session, the unique day focused on providing Clontarf students and partners the opportunity to connect, learn about eachothers experiences and importantly talk about future career opportunities.

CPB Contractors Group Manager, Indigenous and Social Inclusion, Sharon Gray, joined the event.

“This is an important morning for these young fellas and CPB Contractors is proud to be here, we have not only had a great time kicking the footy around, but more importantly, we connected with them to explore the diverse career paths the construction industry offers,” explains Sharon.

With 148 academies across the country supporting more than 11,000 Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander youth, the Clontarf Foundation and its Academy plays a vital role in developing improved self-esteem and confidence amongst its students.

Their annual Super Training Day and following camp are critical in shaping the coming months for the young men and see them participate in other meaningful activities including:

  • They each develop their unique pledge to complete their Year 12 studies, identifying and addressing potential obstacles that may arise, including completing their studies and workshopped strategies and support networks to navigate challenges and engage in team-building activities with their peers.
  • Inspirational talks from sporting heroes and mentors,
  • Participation in fun bonding activities,
  • Exploration of career options beyond high school.
