Perth’s green bridges come to life with fauna furniture

The installation of fauna furniture across the three new green bridges on Perth’s METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension project is nearing completion, boasting a unique feature – fauna furniture made from recycled materials collected throughout construction.

Fauna furniture on the bridges will feature a combination of reclaimed boulders and logs, providing shelter for smaller fauna and critters crossing the rail corridor.

CPB Contractors’ project delivery team has prioritised sustainability throughout construction, resulting in the collection, storage, and now re-use of the majority of logs, rocks, and boulders being used as fauna furniture on the three bridges.

To date, more than 90 logs and over 490 reclaimed limestone rocks have been placed on or around the three green bridges.

Following the completion of these works, the CPB Contractors team will commence landscaping across the bridges, including seeding and planting, followed by the placement of topsoil and mulch.

The METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension project has extended the Joondalup Line 14.5 kilometres north of Butler, with three new stations built in Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep.

CPB Contractors is delivering two METRONET projects for the State Government - the Yanchep Rail Extension and the Thornlie-Cockburn Link. The Yanchep Rail Extension extends the Joondalup line north from Butler to Yanchep and involves the construction of three new stations to support the growing population.
