The Joint Resilience Hub and HumeLink West Community Information Centre have officially opened in Batlow, marking a milestone in local engagement and resilience, and marked by a special ceremony held on 26 August.
Delivered by CPB Contractors and UGL as part of the HumeLink West delivery partnership with Transgrid, the community facility serves as a central meeting point for the local community and project, by bringing the Snowy Valleys Resilience Hub and the HumeLink West project team under one roof.
The centre will play a key role in supporting engagement throughout the delivery of HumeLink West, one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, and continue to provide a safe, accessible space for the Snowy Valleys community.
Funded by the national government following the January 2020 bushfires, CPB Contractors’ Batlow Place Manager Jo Murrell and UGL's Community Manager Chantelle Garrett worked closely with Snowy Valleys Council, Transgrid and the Hub board to co-design a shared-use space that meets both community and project needs.
The launch was attended by Transgrid Project Director Mick Howard, Snowy Valleys Mayor Julia Ham, Resilience Hub Chair Ray Billing and HumeLink West Project Director Tim Burns, with speakers highlighting the importance of collaboration, transparency and long-term community support.
