CPB Contractors is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of its people and projects at the 2025 Civil Contractors Federation (WA) Industry and Training Awards, held in Perth.
The NEWest Alliance, a joint venture delivering key infrastructure for METRONET, was honoured with the Aboriginal Engagement Award, recognising the team’s genuine and sustained efforts in creating meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal people and businesses. This award highlights the Alliance’s commitment to collaboration, respect, and lasting impact within the communities it serves.
Over the project’s lifespan, the project has contributed to the empowerment and inclusion of Aboriginal communities with:
- 100% of team members completing Cultural Awareness Training within their first three months. Over 2,000 personnel have gained deeper understanding through this initiative to date.
- The project has awarded more than $85 million in contracts to Aboriginal businesses - representing 5% of all project contracts.
- Aboriginal employment has been prioritised, with 99 Indigenous employees engaged in 2024 - contributing 10.5% of total hours worked. Over the life of the project, Aboriginal personnel have delivered more than 563,000 hours.
In individual recognition, Kate Chapman, also from the NEWest Alliance, took home the award for Communication/Community Relations Professional of the Year. Kate’s dedication to transparent communication, community engagement, and building strong relationships with more than 10,200 stakeholders across the project was rightfully acknowledged as industry-leading.
The company was also well represented across several other categories, with several talented team members recognised as finalists. These acknowledgments reflect the depth of capability and commitment across the organisation.
These achievements reinforce CPB Contractors’ ongoing focus on diversity, community connection, and professional excellence, and serve as a testament to the incredible people behind the projects.
