Did you know that 99.7% of inert spoil and 98.1% of construction and demolition waste were diverted from landfill on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link Project in Perth? Our CPB Contractors team, as part of NEWest Alliance, achieved 98.5% potable water replacement, saving significant resources and more than 148 megalitres of dewater groundwater was treated for acidity prior to reinfiltration.
A robust training and briefing program embedded environmental awareness on site, with staff equipped to protect local fauna and flora. In 2022 alone, 41 animals were carefully relocated away from works, including quendas, bobtail lizards, snakes, and kangaroos (pictured here is the protection of an active rainbow bee-eater site).
Importantly, the project also surpassed Indigenous participation targets with 8% of total work hours completed by Aboriginal employees and 5% of work packages over $50,000 awarded to Aboriginal businesses, equating a total value of packages awarded to Aboriginal business of over $88 million.
CPB Contractors, as part of the NEWest Alliance, delivered the Yanchep Rail Extension Project and the Thornlie-Cockburn Link Project, as part of Perth's METRONET initiative. It's all part of our commitment to sustainable construction, providing pathways for meaningful employment and upholding cultural values.
