The new Falcon Street shared user bridge linking Neutral Bay to North Sydney has officially opened to the public, marking a major milestone in the delivery of the Warringah Freeway Upgrade. Delivered with confidence on behalf of Transport for NSW, the bridge was formally opened by Minister for Roads, Jenny Aitchison and is already improving safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.
Spanning 187 metres in length and 4.8 metres in width, the bridge provides a vital link across the Warringah Freeway and has been designed with both functionality and place-making in mind.
Key features include:
- Integrated lighting, handrails, and privacy screens along the western edge for the comfort of nearby residents
- A shared path for both pedestrian and cyclist use, improving accessibility and active transport options
- Architectural screens and canopies showcasing a traditional Aboriginal story of five eels, stars and constellations - blending culture with infrastructure.
The remaining sections of the old Falcon Street shared user bridge will be removed progressively over the coming months, ensuring a smooth and safe transition for the community.
The project delivered another milestone in August with the interim opening of the new Alfred Street southbound off-ramp. This has restored access from the Warringah Freeway to North Sydney and Kirribilli, easing congestion and improving network performance.
