Executive General Manager Rob Monaci is a finalist of the NAWIC National Male Ally Award, recognising his contribution to advancing gender equality across the construction industry.
Rob’s approach is grounded in listening, understanding and accountability. While he does not have lived experience of gender inequality, he has taken deliberate steps to understand its impact on individuals, teams and the broader industry, and has translated that understanding into action within his business unit.
"He is a consistent and visible supporter of diversity and inclusion initiatives, using his position to reinforce expectations, challenge behaviours that do not align with inclusive standards, and ensure that commitments are reflected in day-to-day operations," says Chief People and Culture Officer, Sarah O'Neill.
Importantly, Rob’s influence extends beyond his direct reports. As a respected operational leader, he brings credibility to diversity and inclusion initiatives and plays a role in driving broader engagement across the business.
"Rob has become one of the most consistent and credible advocates for inclusion within the business. Not from the sidelines - but from the front line of delivery. In leadership forums, on projects and in everyday interactions, he uses his voice to challenge outdated thinking, reinforce expectations and ensure that inclusion is embedded into how work gets done."
Importantly, his leadership resonates.
"He is the kind of leader people listen to. He brings operational credibility, straight-talking honesty and a genuine commitment to doing better — qualities that mean his support for diversity and inclusion doesn’t just land, it influences. He doesn’t just endorse initiatives; he brings others along with him, creating momentum that extends well beyond his immediate team."
Rob’s recognition by NAWIC highlights the role leaders play in embedding inclusive practices within the construction industry and reinforces our aligned commitment to creating a culture that recognises the value all people, particularly women, bring to our business.
