Piling works have officially commenced on the new Bundaberg Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of one of Queensland's largest health infrastructure projects.
The milestone coincides with CPB Contractors signing a new agreement to deliver the project, providing a clear pathway towards main construction works and bringing the new hospital one step closer to reality.
The start of piling signals the transition from planning and early works into major construction activity, laying the foundations for the future facility and maintaining momentum as the project progresses towards its next phase.
Under the Queensland Government's Hospital Rescue Plan, CPB Contractors will deliver Stage 1 of the new Bundaberg Hospital, providing more than 200 beds and treatment areas focused on acute services and clinical priorities.
Queensland & PNG General Manager Vince Sanfilippo said the project team's focus remained on progressing construction and delivering a world-class healthcare facility for the Wide Bay region.
"The commencement of piling is a significant achievement for the project and an important step towards delivering this vital piece of health infrastructure for the Bundaberg community.
"As construction activity ramps up, we're proud to be working alongside the Queensland Government and our project partners to deliver a modern hospital that will support the region's healthcare needs for generations to come."
Once complete, the new Bundaberg Hospital will provide more than 410 beds and treatment spaces, including additional overnight beds, expanded emergency, outpatient, diagnostic and surgical services, additional operating theatres and a rooftop helipad.
The project will also create opportunities for local businesses and suppliers, with a strong focus on engaging regional subcontractors throughout delivery.
Main works construction is expected to commence later this year, with lift cores and the first ground slab scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
CPB Contractors is proud to be delivering this landmark healthcare project, helping create improved healthcare outcomes for the Wide Bay community while supporting local jobs, businesses and industry capability.
