CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors, in partnership with the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) and Seymour Whyte have commenced major works on the Western Highway Upgrade project, between Buangor and Ararat.
Following the successful commencement of site investigations and enabling works earlier this year, the start of major works represents a major step forward in improving safety, reliability and freight efficiency along one of western Victoria's key regional freight and transport corridors.
The contract will deliver approximately $205 million revenue to CPB Contractors.
CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Jason Spears said:
“CPB Contractors brings extensive experience delivering complex road and transport projects in regional Australia and we look forward to applying that expertise to the Western Highway Upgrade. Through a collaborative approach and a focus on safe and efficient delivery, we will ensure the project supports Victoria's long-term economic growth, improving freight productivity and connections across western Victoria.”
CPB Contractors Managing Director Craig Nuttall said:
“Through meaningful engagement with communities, suppliers and stakeholders, our team is committed to creating local employment opportunities, supporting regional businesses and investing in training initiatives that help build Victoria’s future workforce. As the project moves into major works, we will continue to prioritise sustainability and responsible resource use, ensuring it delivers lasting benefits and a positive legacy for the region.”
The Western Highway Upgrade will deliver:
- An additional 12-kilometre lane in both directions between Buangor and Ararat.
- A new centre median and new barriers to separate carriageways.
- A new interchange at Hillside Road.
- New bridges over the railway line and the Hopkins River.
