Delivering an advanced prison upgrade
CPB Contractors worked with Queensland Corrective Services to deliver significant facility upgrades at the Capricornia Correctional Centre to support an increase in capacity and ongoing prison services.
The design and construct contract generated revenue to CPB Contractors of approximately $145 million.
Construction commenced in early 2018 and concluded in 2021.

During all phases of the project, our team was committed to developing increased local job and work opportunities for Queensland’s Capricorn Coast residents and businesses as a priority, and to ensure that all project objectives were achieved.
Scope of works included:
- More than 160 new residential cells additional residential cells in new buildings;
- 100 secure cell bunks;
- A new residential officers station; and
- A site-wide electronic security upgrade.
Located 20km north of Rockhampton in Queensland, Capricornia Correctional Centre provides facilities for remand, reception and sentenced high and low-security prisoners, and offers inmates a wide range of vocational education and training programs.
