CPB Contractors is delivering Auckland Airport’s Taxiway Mike and Remote Stands Stage 2 project, a critical component of the airport’s major capital works program. The project was awarded under a design and construct contract, generating approximately NZ$221 million in revenue for CPB Contractors.
It is part of a major expansion at New Zealand’s largest and busiest airport, designed to increase taxiway capacity, add remote stands, and integrate in-ground jet fuel reticulation to support future growth. Construction commenced in late 2018, with an original completion target of October 2021.
Works include:
- Construction of an additional taxiway and extension of an existing taxiway
- Six remote stands with integrated in-ground jet fuel reticulation
- 900,000 cubic metres of earthworks
- Laying 130,000 cubic metres of aggregate basecourse
- 168,000 square metres of concrete pavement
- Construction of a 3,200m stormwater drainage system, runoff and treatment lagoon
- Installation of a 2,200m in-ground jet fuel network.
The project also supports local employment, with around 1,000 people expected to work on the package, including nearly 100 apprentices, trainees, and engineering cadets, reinforcing skills development in New Zealand’s infrastructure sector.
CPB Contractors is proud to partner with Auckland Airport to deliver this vital project safely and efficiently, ensuring the airport remains resilient and ready for future demand.
