Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre

At 32,000m2, Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre in Christchurch will be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and community venue in New Zealand.

The three-building facility will cater to local and international events, with construction including a 50-metre ten-lane competition pool and a separate diving pool with seating for 1,000 spectators, swim leisure area with five trapdoor hydroslides, nine indoor netball and basketball courts and a show court with retractable seating for 2,500 spectators.

When retracted, the grandstands will create space for two additional basketball/netball size courts and can also be partially retracted, providing flexible seating and hospitality options.

In addition to recreational use, Parakiore meets international competition standards to cater for the education and high-performance elite training communities in the Canterbury region.
