Our Indigenous and Social Inclusion Strategy and Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan

Through our Indigenous and Social Inclusion Strategy and Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we demonstrate our commitment to providing participation opportunities in employment, training and enterprises for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses over the life of our projects.

Our achievements

November 2022

CPB Contractors launched its Reconciliation Australia-endorsed Stretch RAP that outlines specific actions and deliverables the business will embed to continue its journey of reconciliation.

June 2022

CPB Contractors signed its second three-year agreement with CareerSeekers, a program supporting Australia’s new humanitarian entrants into professional careers. To date, CPB Contractors has supported 92 interns, with 64 being offered direct employment.

FY2021/22

During this financial year, CPB Contractors procured more than $100 million of goods and services from Indigenous businesses and social enterprises.

2018

CPB Contractors partnered with Tupu Toa, which sees Māori and Pasifika students participate in 12-week paid internships while completing a training and development program.

2010

CPB Contractors was the first corporate organisation to sign up for the CareerTrackers ‘10x10 Program’ – a 10-year commitment providing internships for 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students annually.

CareerTrackers

CPB Contractors has been working with CareerTrackers – a non-profit creating employment pathways and providing support systems for Indigenous youth – for over a decade.

We were the first corporate organisation to sign up for their ‘10x10 Program’, a 10-year commitment to providing meaningful internships to Indigenous students around Australia. Our partnership with CareerTrackers is a formal commitment to engage 25 new and existing Indigenous interns with at least 12 weeks of paid employment each year. Where suitable, we also consider each intern for the CIMIC graduate program and other ongoing employment opportunities.

CareerSeekers

CPB Contractors is proud to partner with CareerSeekers – a not-for-profit initiative that supports humanitarian immigrants – both mid-career professionals with tertiary qualifications and university students alike, by linking them with employers that can provide practical experience and industry connections.

Our partnership sees us engage 25 interns with at least 12 weeks of paid employment each year and, where suitable, consider each intern for the CIMIC graduate program and other ongoing employment opportunities.

Tupu Toa

CPB Contractors, in partnership with Tupu Toa, continue to engage with Māori and Pasifika communities to create pathways for students into careers in the construction industry.

Our partnership sees us provide 12 weeks of paid employment to at least three new and existing interns annually and, where suitable, consider each intern for the CIMIC graduate program and other ongoing employment opportunities.

CPB Contractors is a founding member of Supply Nation, Australia's largest national directory of verified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses. We remain committed to working with Supply National to build relationships and increase our spending with Indigenous suppliers.

Our ongoing membership with Social Traders aids in connecting social enterprises with procurement opportunities across CPB Contractors projects.

Amotai NZ

Amotai is New Zealand’s leading supplier diversity intermediary that connects Māori and Pasifika-owned businesses with goods and services opportunities across CPB Contractors' projects.

Our Aboriginal Business and Social Enterprise Database

To affect positive social and economic change, we’ve developed an industry-leading Social Inclusion Procurement Policy, which has seen us create our industry's largest in-house online database of Aboriginal and social enterprise businesses.

Through this centralised database, CPB Contractors has streamlined the qualification processes associated with working for us and enables our projects and precontracts teams to identify and engage with Indigenous and Social enterprise businesses effectively.
